The last day of service ... Goodbye train..

8th February 2015

Our summer place is a small, charming place where you can relax.. But the negative aspect of living here is high unemployment so most young people emigrate to big cities and abroad. Most people living here are senior citizens. But the positive aspect living here is wildlife, fresh air and silence.
Since 19th century there was a railway station here so people use trains travelling to their work or doing shopping in bigger towns located nearby.. But now more and more people are driving their cars and trains tickets are becoming more and more expensive. The result is the local authorities decided to close down the trains connections. Is it a right decision ? I don't know...

30th December 2015,...  one of the last days on service...

We get much more snow. And one more negative aspect of winter..

Queen - winter

  1. Well that's sad if it's closed now, but I suppose not enough people used it to make a profit.

  2. That was sad. But solitary passenger alighting tells the tale, I guess. The same thing happened here beginning in the last 40 years or so, and now it's reversing a bit with super expensive train systems being built into and out of the big cities. Maybe we should have kept the old trains!

    1. Cynthia nowadays there is priority to cars not public transport.. But at my Silesian Conurbation public transport is a priority but we must avoid traffic jams.. So the situation is different from here..

  5. A bad idea. There will come a time when the roads get so congested and people will wish they had a fast and comfortable alternative and wished they tried to save the train. Many countries are ahead of Poland in car ownership and regret shutting down railway lines. I hope the reservation has been kept so that the line can be reinstated in the future.
