1st May - two in one

1st May 2016

Firstly;

All people in Poland have the day off work or school on Labor Day or May . It is a time to celebrate both the spring time and workers’ rights.
Many parts of Europe celebrated Labor Day from 1890 onwards. The holiday was declared in Poland in 1899, to commemorate a workers’ strike in Chicago, USA. There is some political controversy regarding the Labor Day celebrations, as it was one of the most important holidays that were celebrated during Poland’s Communist era. Today, people celebrate May 1 by having a day off school or work, and by enjoying the warmer spring weather.

Secondly :
My father is 72 today so big party is coming.

All plants are from my garden.

Happy Birthday my father. Many Happy returns.

Hello I am away

30th April 2016.

Last Thursday I didn't have the Internet connection and the same yesterday. Now I am at my summer house and the net works.Hello again.

I took these photos yesterday when I visited it with my students.

The Liberation Mound is the highest point of Piekary Śląskie. It rises to 356 meters above sea level. From the top one can see a panorama of the four corners of the world.
With good visibility people armed with binoculars can admire the distant ranges of the Tatra Mountains, lying more than 160 km away. Closer you can see blocks of apartments and church towers and chimneys of Zagłębie Dąbrowskie, a region of Upper Silesia. The mound was between1932 and 1937 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Polish victory under Vienna and the 15th anniversary of the incorporation of Silesia into Poland.

See you in the afternoon.

The world from the 10th floor

26th April 2016

The world can be different from the top of the block of flats. Yesterday I visited my friend who lives on the 10th floor and I took some photos. I live on the 2nd floor so my view is different.

Living on the 10th floor is too high for me..

My new friend who loves sleeping on my bag. She is nice and friendly but too fat. She weighs 7 kilos . She has never been outside the flat. She eats only cat's food. Her name Nala and she was adopted from the shelter.

Ugly Upper Silesia

25th April 2016

I think in each country you can find

beautiful areas and ugly ones.Today I would like to show you some not really nice houses which were built in the 19th century.

I would like live in those houses but some people live there.

Two impressive churches in the city centre in Katowice

24th April 2016

I love visiting churches especially in the hot and sunny days because in the churches temoerature is cool. I think almost all churches here were built from stones or brick. Nowadays churches are built from concrete.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of St. Mary the Virgin, built in 1862-70 {designed by A. Langer and J. Haas) is a perfect example of well proportioned Neo-Gothic style, with the shape, texture and detail truly rendering the features of the style. The interior is decorated with a set of stained glasses by Rittenbach of Cologne and A. Bunsch ("Virtues and Vices").

Roman Catholic church St Mary in Katowice - photos above

On our left is the oldest building in Katowice - the Neo- Romanesque Evangelical Church of the Lord's Resurrection, built in 1856 (designed by Lucae), and provided with later extensions on two separate occasions. Its chancel contains precious stained glass by Reuter and Reichhardt of Cologne. A school was built next to the church in 1860, and it still stands there.

I hope next time I will upload photos which were taken inside the churches.

Turkish cementary and mosque

21 st April 2016
Last year at trhis time I was in Turkey. I love visiting different countries and get some knowledge about the culture which is completely different from European one.
Most headstones in cementaries are white not common in Europe.

Interior of the mosque. I was in the mosques many times. Definitely interesting church  but as a woman you should
cover your head.. It shows your respect to their culture. But is not obligatory.

You must take off your shoes entering the church - it is obligatory.

The floor was covered with blue carpet which was very clea and soft.

The photos were taken in the city Aksaray..
