Monument of the good ghost on the main street..

6th September 2015

Once upon the time mother and daughter were coming back from the wedding reception and they lost their way. Suddenly they noticed the tall man with a lamp so they followed him. They reached their permanent residence and they wanted to thank the man but he had disappeared. It was the good ghost according to the well-known legend connected with Bytom.

The monument of the good ghost was erected on the main street in 2004. Looks lovely..

The old tenements on the main street..

5th September 2015

Last Friday I was in the city centre to buy books for my daughter and I have had possibility to take some photos. Walking the main street I have decided to take photos of the houses which where built in the 19th century. Most of them are renovated. On the first floor shops or banks are located but on the second and third floors are permanently inhabitants. The apartments in those buildings are spacious and comfortable but expensive to maintain - especially in the winter. Central heating is not cheap... but luckily last year we didn't have any winters..

Have a great Saturday

The lion is charming....

4th September 2015

My city is very old. It is one of the oldest city in Poland and what is more it is older than well-known Cracow. The first written books which included  the name of our city were published in 1124. Sleeping lion is one of the symbols of our city and the monument is located in the centre of the city. But there is one more sleeping lion which was made of flowers on the main street of our city. It is lovely animal from plants and in my opinion looks fantastic.

 Masterpiece....

Greetings from Bytom.

The Roadside Chapel at my summer place.

2nd September 2015

While I was cycling during my summer holidays I came across the little small chapel. The chapel is located on the private property. So I was very interested in this chapel  and I decided to take some photos. And suddenly the owner - an elderly woman turned up. She invited me to her garden and told the story about the chapel.

It was built in the 19th century - in 1872. The builder was her grand grand grand ..... grandfather who happily had came back from Uprising and as a special thank God who survived his life..

All equipment in the chapel is original from 19th century

What is very interesting the wooden oak door dated from 19th century too.

The builder's name was Lukas..

The woman and her family take care of this little church..

Thanks for visiting
