Racalmuto the old but lovely town located in Sicily. In my opinion lot of buildings need renovation. Streets are really narrow it is really difficult to drive but fantastic Italian drivers can do it.. I admire them sitting as a passenger in the car.
Good to see the fountain still works. It is a rather odd shape.
ReplyDeleteAndre I think it is about 400 years old but the water is a good quality
Deletethe fountain was used for horses to drink out of and for doing the wash.
DeleteItalian drivers???
ReplyDeleteYou need nerves of steel to travel in that country, where there seems
to be one speed - FAST and if they do have two speeds, the second one
is FASTER!!
Renovations?? Well only if the buildings retain their authenticity - don't want the US style bloody skyscrapers which have taken over the Western and Eastern cities in the world - Glass monstrosities!!
The fountain looks quite in place as far as I can see. I am sure it is QUITE functional.
Very interesting tour of Sicily and thanks Gosia. It is a place that I would never have visited in my travel days.
Cheers
Colin
Sicily (/ˈsɪsᵻli/ siss-i-lee; Italian: Sicilia [siˈtʃiːlja], Sicilian: Sicìlia) is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It constitutes an autonomous Region of Italy, along with surrounding minor islands, officially referred to as Regione Siciliana (in Italian, Sicilian Region) .
DeleteJust in case viewers think that when I write "Italian" drivers and speed, I do know that Sicily is a "region/province" of Italy, so taxi drivers in Racalmuto would be pretty much akin to the same in Naples, Rome or Milan. Speed in paramount.

Colin I know Italian drivers are very brave and it does not mean they drive safely...
DeleteLooks like an amazing place...and I love those blue skies!
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion Sicily is a lovely island
DeleteGlorious! These old fountains still exist around Spain. I used to love driving from town to town in Tuscany to find people meeting around these fountains.
