What a great festival in Racalmuto.

22nd July 2016

Festival of Madonna of Montes lasts three days. It always starts on Friday in the evening. The weather was perfect as usual here. It starts in the church where the statue of Madonna of Montes is situated. In the evening  is a procession after mass with a statue which is uploaded on the cart  pulled by oxen.

In front of the church there was a crowd of residents and tourists everybody desired to see this great trip of Madonna of Montes.

The church in the altar there is Madonna of Montes.

The animals were so big and felt uncomfortable so the men tried to control them...

Ceiling in the church..

Madonna and me..

Ready for journey..

The procession was colourful...

The church as well streets were decorated..

And it set off around the town to bless their residents.. The procession lasted about two hours..

It was the first day but the next two were much more impressive..

Be continue..

  6. We just don't have any religious processionals like this here in the U.S., so it's very interesting to see them in other countries. Nice photos!
