Local cementery in Racalmuto - Sicily Italy

2nd August 2016

While I am travelling abroad I am very interested in each aspect of culture of this country. So I visit as much as possible. I was in local cemetery to see. The cemetery wasn't to big but clean.
So look at the graves..

Some tombs look like small chapels .

Inside the chapel beloved relatives are buried.

It mean Italians take care of their dead relatives..

  1. Most of the very ornate and large graves in Australian cemeteries are Italian.

  2. It looks impressive. A bit like Pere lachaise and Recoletta.

  3. Italians certainly go in for ornate graves and even house like
    burial structures for the dead.
The most amazing cemetery I visited was in Manila, Philippines where
the Chinese community have the most elaborate temple like vaults
of living proportions - yes they stay there at times - to worship
the Chinese deities. Eye boggling to see, I can assure you.
I actually prefer the lawn cemeteries, like the military have for
    the fallen servicemen.
