Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind
Blow, blow, thou winter wind
Thou art not so unkind
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most friendship is feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
As man's ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen,
Because thou art not seen,
Although thy breath be rude.
Heigh-ho! sing, heigh-ho! unto the green holly:
Most freindship if feigning, most loving mere folly:
Then heigh-ho, the holly!
This life is most jolly.
Freeze, freeze thou bitter sky,
That does not bite so nigh
As benefits forgot:
Though thou the waters warp,
Thy sting is not so sharp
As a friend remembered not.

The weather is very windy but we have a thaw today.
What a beautiful scene.
ReplyDeleteAnd the bard is right, ingratitude is colder than winter's blast.
but it is cold
DeleteI haven't read that one before. It certainly makes a snowy winter sound nice. Here in Melbourne Australia we just sweltered through a 37 degrees (Celsius) Christmas - not fun!
ReplyDeletewow I am jealous of your summery weather
DeleteBrrrrrr sounds too cold for me. Happy new year
ReplyDeleteThe same to you
DeleteIt sure looks cold. I suppose you can be grateful for the thaw but now you probably have slush everywhere!
ReplyDeleteMitchell we are coming back to my city flat where we do not have any snow
DeleteBrrr, I think it's very cold in Polen now!
ReplyDeleteMyfriend it is cold but only in the mountains where is snow
