Colourful living?

26th August 2012

Upper Silesia is a region which is not popular with tourists. Why?.. because there is one of the most industrialized area in the European Union. I can't say it is clean but in my opinion people here are friendly. What is more  most of us don't come from this region because it has returned to Poland in 1945 ( after WWII). It is a "melting pot" here.
There are a lot of advantages living here because we have a wide choice of companies, hospitals, schools, factories, shopping centres and so on...
Most us live in blocks of flats because it is overpopulated region and there is no space for homes.
We live in the "grey Silesia" as most people think who don't live here but it is nice look at our blocks colourful...

The old house dated back 19th century

Apartments which were built in 1980s..

Block of flats which were built in 1970s.

And colourful autumn

Roman Catholic Church the newest it was built in 1990s.. Now we don't build churches because less and less people take part in religion services. It is typical for European societies.

Rainy day.. Where is summer?

One of the quiet street in the afternoon at 5 p.m.

  2. It looks as if the city has made an effort to add color in its new construction. Maybe soon it won't be thought of as a gray city anymore!

    1. Upper Silesia is grey. Too many factories and dust,

  3. The city looks really nice. I like the second photo, with the colourful balconies and it appears the windows were double glazed when it was built.

  4. The many colors of the city are intriguing! The church has some pretty neat architecture as well--sad to hear of the decline of churches in Europe. In a lot of things I think America often follows in Europe's footsteps, so it would not be surprising if the U.S. faces a similar situation in a few decades. A lot of the churches around where I live are attended by mostly older people. There seem to be very few young people who will take their places in the church pews when they pass away. I personally only attend churches when I sing at them or other music groups do, though I do attend a home Bible study daily), so I am not a big advocate of established denominational churches, but it is sad to see so much of the influence of Christianity declining as people here become increasingly wicked.

    1. Bethany, can you believe in Germany and France and many countries in Europe churches are closed on Sundays. They are empty - they are now attractive landmarks in the 21st century Europe. It is fashion that people don't go to the church.only the old take part in service the young spend time in the shopping centres. That contemporary Europe.
