Sopot Pier

3rd August 2014

The most eye-catching and the longest pier in Poland is also a favourite venue for entertaining events.
Baltic Sea in Sopot.

The beach next to Sopot Pier.

Sopot Pier

The Pirate Ship

The first pier on this spot, with a length of 41m, was built in 1829 but then extended in stages until in 1910 it was 315m long. Initially it was used for mooring but with time was transformed into a very popular attraction. The present shape of the pier was achieved in 1927 and at 512m is the longest wooden pier in Europe.

The Santa Claus is working. Great idea!!!!

I love walking on the pier but it is so windy.

  2. Hello Gosia, The water and sky are so blue and beautiful. The weather looks delightful for being out on the beach. I also enjoyed the history of the pier.
Wishing you a great week. I did not find a postcard but I did mail a greeting card to you. I have not received your postcard yet but I will let you know.

  3. The pier is over half a kilometre long. Australia has some long piers, but I don't think we have a wooden one that long.
