The stone building from 18th century.

10th August 2014

While I was visiting my cousin I saw a fantastic building it was the Roman Catholic Church located in Gubiny. Gubiny is a very small village only 200 people live here. People run big farms here.
The most interesting landmark in the village is the stone building - the church which was built about 1342 - so it means very very old. Later in the 17th century was damaged by Swedish soldiers. In 18th century it was renovated. And it has survived in this shape till 21 st century.

The church is surounded by cementary - it is unusual in the contemporary poland.

The building is so lovely in the summer.

  2. Very neat looking church! Did you notice what the dates in the cemetery were? The oldest I've seen here in Iowa was a birth date of 1796, but I imagine they must be much older there!

  3. Bethany, I have seen the stone from 1710. Amazing. But I have in this part of Poland much older graves. It is possible because Europe is the oldest continent.

    1. Ah yes! There must be very old graves there. 1710 is really going back in time--before the American Revolution!

  8. Beautiful church. A bit quirky, yet very nice! By the way, Europe isn't the oldest continent, a mistake many Europeans make. Africa is, with first human civilizations appearing in Egypt. Next came China, followed by the Indus Valley and Mesopotamia (6000 years ago = 4000 years B.C, which is way longer than 1700 A.C.).(Source: Wikipedia). Henry.

    1. You are right but there were ancient civilizations but the modern which exists and the oldest is European one. The ancient ones unluckily disappeared.
