Baltic Sea Sopot Pier

23rd July 2014

Wow ....... Sopot is a city located next to Gdansk. It is very nice and friendly. In the summer is very popular with tourists from place but also from other countries. It very popular with German because this part of country belonged to Germany about 3 centuries.

Sopot is very famous for its Pier -  built as a pleasure pier and as a mooring point for cruise boats, first opened in 1827. At 511.5m, the pier is the longest wooden pier in Europe. It stretches into the sea from the middle of Sopot beach which is a popular venue for recreation and health walks (the concentration of iodine at the tip of the pier is twice as high as on land) or public entertainment events, and it also serves as a mooring point for cruise boats and water taxis. It is also an excellent point for observing the World Sailing Championship, the Baltic Windsurfing Cup and the Sopot Triathlon taking place on the bay. Sopot pier consists of 2 parts: the famous wooden walking jetty and the Spa Square on land, where concerts and festivities are organised.

    1. We have had a great time here. We went by car here but we don't use it every day because there is a heavy traffic here. So we use public transport. In the morning we are at the beach in the afternnon we sightseeing. We are leaving Gdansk on Friday and travel 120 km to countryside next to Torun to my cousin for 3 more days.
