The old school in Zarnowiec

10th July 2014

Zarnowiec is a small village nearby Jedlicze but it is famous for Maria Konopnicka - Polish writer and poet who lived here in XX century.

It is a tiny village but very lovely. Many years ago in 1886 the first school was established here.  The school is one of the oldest wooden building in Jedlicze county. In 2010 the school building was renovated. The wooden building is open to public every day so it is possible to visit it.

School building from 19th century

Currently there are a lot of  school workshops there. Students take part in ecological, science workshops or the have field trips . It is a fantastic opportunity to spend free time in the open air.

The well. There wasn't running water in 19th century

There is a big playground around the school.

A nice cafe at school just fantastic opportunity for a cup of tea, fizzy drink or a cake - it is you choice

  1. What a beautiful place and brilliant restoration/renovation. This is so unlike anything I've ever seen.

  2. I wouldn't have recognized it was a school from the outside. It's lovely inside with all the wood and natural materials.

  3. What a lovely wooden building and I would have thought it was a church until you said it was a school. The grounds are nice also.
