Finnish Houses are here.

11th September 2014

At my place where I live most people live in apartments. But in the past it was completely different. Most blue workers - mainly coal miners lived in the small wooden houses. They were called Finnish houses. Some of them had survived and miners live still there. They weren't so big but I think they were much comfortable than apartments. Family has a small yard and a shed for tools, so they could grow veggies or flowers.
Finnish houses.

The autumnal tree. So beautiful.

I think living in that house can be more comfortable than in apartments. Why ? Because you can spend you free time in the open air. Wow.

THANKS FOR VISITING

  1. Only the poorest and at times the richest parents bring up their children in flats here, apartments for the rich. I am curious. Did you grow up in a house? Sorry if you have mentioned it already. The yellow tree looks like a golden ash tree. As your leaves change colour, our trees are are showing green buds.

    1. Andrew, as a child I lived in the house. But since I was teenager I have lived in the apartments. In Poland poorer families live in apartments but the richer have own house. Having house in my place it means you are middle class. In the big conurbation where I live most people live in apartments only few people live in detached house. I would like to have a house here I would must sell my summer house and my apartment house here are very expensive. It costs about 150 000 US dollars. My summer house costs about 110 000 dollars and not many families can afford here to have an apartment and a house.

  2. Those houses look homely, as I image apartments don't always. The autum colour is lovely as our blossoms are out or have been out..

  3. Do you know why they're known as "Finnish houses"? Is this a style common in Finland?

    1. Finnish houses because they come from Finland. It was in the 1950s when Poland sold the coal to Finland and they bought cheap wooden houses with discount for our blue workers mainly miners.

  6. Very nice. I grew up with a house on picture 1.

With the hedges. Do I remember them well. When dad trimmed them. I got to carry the branches back to the corner of the yard. My duty job.

  7. Those houses look so lovely, and probably were a real treasure to their inhabitants, especially if there was some space to grow a garden.

  9. You can still get out and walk in the open air but I agree, it makes it easier to be out if you live in a house with grass and flowers around.

  11. Such quaint little homes, very charming. I think a home is way better than an apartment.
