Brighton Pier is a nice place for walking or buying some souvenirs. During day is very crowded.
The pier is long but it is a fantastic place to relax looking at the sea.

During my stay in Brighton the weather was nice but wind and cold. Fortunately it was sunny so we could walk on the beach. It was about 10 a.m. so it was not very crowded.

The Brighton Marine Palace and Pier is a pleasure pier in Brighton, England, which opened in 1899. It is generally known as the Palace Pier for short, but has been informally renamed Brighton Pier since 2000 by its owners, the Noble Organisation, as it is now Brighton's only non-derelict pier. The West Pier was its rival but was closed in 1975 and was subsequently severely damaged by fires and storms, with the remaining iron structure being partially demolished in 2010. Historically, the now destroyed Royal Suspension Chain Pier was the first pier structure built in Brighton.

Brighton was a sleepy little fishing village, then known as Brighthelmstone, until Dr Richard Russell of Lewes began to prescribe the use of seawater for his patients. He advocated the drinking of seawater and sea-bathing in 1750. In 1753 he erected a large house near the beach for himself and for his patients. A further factor in Brighton's growth came in the early 19th Century when the Prince of Wales built the Royal Pavilion, an extravagant Regency building designed by John Nash. But it was only with the development of the railways, around 1840, that Brighton truly started to boom.
Brighton is a famous seaside resort and charming city (on the south coast of England, in the county of East Sussex and almost immediately due south of the capital city London (76 km/47 mi). In 2000, the two neighbouring communities of Brighton and Hove joined together to form the unitary authority of the City of Brighton and Hove. Known for its oriental architecture and large gay community.

The city is convenient to London, and increasingly popular with media and music types who don't want to live in the capital. It is sometimes called "London-by-the-Sea" for this reason. Brighton is typically referred to as the gay capital of Britain. There is a significant gay district in Kemp Town which adds to the Bohemian atmosphere of the city. Brighton has long been the capital of decadence and hedonism in Britain - not for nothing it is famed as the place to have "a dirty weekend."
It is home to two universities, the University of Sussex (situated on the edge of the city at Falmer) and the University of Brighton

The statue of Sherlock Holmes in London, sculpted by John Doubleday, stands near the site of the fictional detective's home at 221B Baker Street. Unveiled on 23 September 1999, it was funded by the Abbey National building society, whose headquarters were on the supposed site of the famous address.
The 3-metre-high statue depicts Holmes wearing an Inverness cape and a deerstalker and holding a pipe, attributes first given to him by Sidney Paget, who illustrated Arthur Conan Doyle's stories for The Strand Magazine.It is located outside Baker Street tube station on Marylebone Road, near both the detective's fictional home at 221B Baker Street and the Sherlock Holmes Museum between numbers 237 and 241.

It was in Brighton. The man was resting in the sleeping bag. What was a problem.? Maybe he was homeless or just sleeping after drinking a bottle of vodka which was lying next to him.
