In the forest - picking mushrooms.

1st September 2014

As a family we have a lot of pastimes and one of them is picking mushrooms in the late summer and early autumn. The nearest forest which is clean is located about 45 kilometres from our city.On Sunday we decided to go and pick mushrooms. Walking and picking mushrooms is a fun. But we have known species of mushrooms ( some of them of course) because in the forest are edible mushrooms and poisonous ones. Look at the photos what did we find and saw in our Upper Silesian forest and how looks likes nature here.

Poisonous one. The toadstool but very beautiful in its natural environment

Mushrooms are everywhere - on the tree too -

Edible - and most wanted for soups

We have collected three baskets so we are satisfied with the forest trip.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. You're so lucky that you know the differences between healthy and poisonous. I would need to stay away since I don't know what is good. Would bright colors mean it's poisonous?

    1. Bright colour means deadly poisonous but it is not so easy because there are a lot of species mainly brown ones which are very similar to edible ones. That why a lot of people have lost their lives. So picking mushrooms is a difficult and responsible job. We always collect only two or three species which we have known for sure.

  2. The toad stool is very pretty. I have fond memories of collection mushrooms when I was a child, but I never liked them to eat and I still don't

    1. Toadstools are very nice but only in the forest. Andrew, I understand you a lot of people don't like fungi.

  4. Oh wow, that is neat that you know which are the good mushrooms. My great grandmother knew the good ones around here and would collect them, but unfortunately that information wasn't passed on through the family.

  7. The red mushrooms look like storybook mushrooms, from the woods near Little Red Ridinghood's grandmother's home! I've heard that wild mushrooms are very delicious. Enjoy!
