Small chapel

16 th August 2016

I came across this small chapel on the road while cycling. This is a chapel which dates back from 1895 includes the statue of Saint Florian.

Saint Florian (LatinFlorianus; died c. 304 AD) was a Christian holy man, and the patron saint of Linz, Austriachimney sweeps; soapmakers, and firefighters. His feast day is May 4. St. Florian is also the patron of Upper Austria, jointly with Saint Leopold.. This part of Poland for many years belonged to Austria so it was a patron of firefighters, too.

Setting around the chapel..

Local residents take care of it.

  4. Hello!:) You are right about the temperature in the Algarve. It was too hot, we had siestas every afternoon in the great heat of the day. Your chapel find is lovely, it's so small that it almost looks more like a monument rather than a chapel. It looks in pristine condition, considering it's age, and the local people have done an excellent job in caring for this historical chapel.
