Farewell Salt Mine in Wieliczka the last point. Daniłowicz Shaft

18th November 2014

And we finally have reached to the last point of out long journey under ground level in Salt Mine. It was long, exciting and I hope the fantastic trip for some of you who live far way from this unique place. I hope so one day we will meet at the gate of Wieliczka Salt Mine.

GRAND SAL HOTEL located next to Salt Mine a fantastic place to stay..

Salt Mine in 1864

The tourist route ends in Daniłowicz Shaft station from where tourists exit the mine to the surface in a four-cage elevator. Each cage holds 9 persons ( 36 in total). The elevator moves at the speed 4m/s. According to the ancient tradition of constructing shafts stations, a modern presenting the patron of salt miners, St. Kinga, hangs on one of the walls on the shaft station.

The underground chapels, effigies of saints as well as miners greeting "God Bless" said at every meeting and farewell, are a testimony of the great piety of people working underground.

  10. I am Polish. Its a honey to my heart to see so many nice opinions about Wieliczka Salt mine. May be Poland is not an empire like USA but its prosperous and colorful these days. I really encourage to visit Americans especialy that you can start budget flights from NYC for $500 round trips and stay in a luxurious hostels for $50 per day. Single and double rooms availabel too if you dig enough in internet.I say hostel not hotel because they are destinated for youth originally so thats why they are cheap. Hotels are more expensive especialy in Warsaw. I have prepared link how to spend the best way 10 days in Poland for foreigner so let me link my blog here

Anyway according to survey Americans are the most liked nation by Poles so why to spend money exotic holidays instead of in Poland?

I reccomed you polish soup żurek and national dish Bigos
    God Bless America
