Birds in Silesian cities

6th September 2014

Our Silesian Conurbation is full of birds but the most popular here are pigeons, magpies and jackdaws. The birds which live in the polluted, overpopulated and noisy environment are very friendly and they live next to us. Walking dog in the morning it is opportunity to take some interesting photos of them.

Pigeons which are resting next to University of Silesia in Katowice. Photo was taken 5th September at 1p.m.

Pigeons next to our local Kindergarten 6th September at 6.45 a.m.

The magpie which is holding a chestnut. But what a shame it is invisible,

The jackdaw in the morning

Pigeons - everywhere
But unluckily pigeons are not safe for people here.
( From the local newspaper)
In Upper Silesia, southern Poland, people living in the vicinity of the birds' nesting sites are frequently bitten by A. reflexus. The bites can provoke serious allergic reactions, including fatal anaphylactic shock.

So we should be careful. Despite this fact I love the pigeons

  3. I think pigeons are in every city in the world. They must be very adaptable.
