Upper Silesia - mix of architectural styles.

5th January 2014

Upper Silesia is modern and well- develped but there are the old buildings, too. Most of the old buildings dates back from 19th century when it was a typically mining region. And what's more all houses were made of red brick. Now  new building are completely different and are made of concrete. I don't think so it is a better material but definitely cheaper than brick now. A lot of buildings need renovation to preserve them for next generations.

    1. Andrew , in the past miners earned a lot of money because the conditions of work were very hard not the situation is different. But now they earn better than teachers but they risk their lives every day

  3. They look to be in good condition and cared for. I hope that continues. I think brick is more attractive than the steel and concrete used today.
