In my my place trains were very popular in the past. Nowadays cars are becoming more and more popular. As people have become richer they prefer cars and I think it is typical for western European societies. Well cars are more comfortable than trains but you must wait in the traffic jams.So one of the railway station in my city was closed. It is in a bad condition. What a shame in the past it was nice and friendly for the passengers.
Love from Upper Silesia.
Thanks for visiting!!1
It looks as if it might have been nice in the past but I think it has been closed for awhile. It's the same way everywhere.
ReplyDeleteCynthia in some parts of my country the reopen it again. So you are right
DeleteMy dad got his first car in the 70s. I remember the days of traveling by train to my grandparents very well. Sweet memories. Two hours on the train. Buying meat kroket on station. I love your photos! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNow we have trains too but for long distances but people prefer cars
DeleteI hope your governments respond by improving public transport with more spending, rather than spending on roads that will just remain congested and even more people will buy cars.
ReplyDeleteAndrew public transport in Upper Silesia means good buses and trams but ot trainsa nd it works great. In big cities public transport works wel but in small places situation is completely different too high cost to maintain it for small number of reasidents
DeleteThe railway station in my town is also closed but has been bought by someone and turned into a restaurant. Much better than just letting it go to ruin I think.
ReplyDeleteDiana
So I think it is a nice option
Deletethe traffic jam over here is pretty bad too. We are just starting to have more trains but the train stations not in good location. end up many preferred to drive instead.
ReplyDeleteI think traffic jams are everywhere now
DeleteWe would rather have good reliable public transport than having to endure traffic jam. It is much cheaper using public transport.
ReplyDeleteNancy you are right but 21st century people prefer cars
DeleteWhat a pity the railways was closed, with traffic jams would be handy to have trains.
ReplyDeleteMargare here where i live we have a lot of buses and trams so the lack of trains is not a serious problem
DeleteIt would be a shame to see cars replace public transport. The auto and gas industries did that in California beginning the 1940s. Now they're trying to create a completely new public transportation infrastructure. Give me trains (good trains) any day!
ReplyDeleteMitchell in Upper Silesia public transportationnw works well but it is based on buses and trams
