Oscar goes to Polish film "IDA"

24th February 2015

Today it is a special and great day for Poland because we have won Oscar 2015. Our film IDA got an SCAR. Honestly I haven't watched this movie, yet. But I am going to do it. I believe it is a great film...

Shot in black-and-white, ‘Ida’ is a beautifully photographed and sensitive account of the dark days of the People’s Republic of Poland, which contains as its subject matter what the historian Norman Davies has described as ‘the meanest of controversies’, that of Polish Jewish relations in the middle of the twentieth century.

Holywood was a happy place for IDA

  1. Congratulations ... I watched the gracious thank you from the recipient, it was quite touching. I too hope to see Ida ... I believe we all need to be reminded of what can happen if we allow power to fall into the wrong hands.

  3. Shalom to you Gosia. The acceptance speech of the Polish director was the only part of the Academy Awards that I have seen so far. Good for him for taking enough time (over the music) to say all that he wanted to say!
I will go see Ida when it comes here, for sure.

  5. Our only child adored the film, she works in Indy films and her daddy and his family are Polish Jewish..She was thrilled, she went to Poland to try to find her people she found them in graves in Birkenbeau area..She knows all too well what happened in the Nazi period but now knows what happened in the period covered by the film, The company she worked and works for had something to do with this film, I thought the fellow who got the award the most refreshing of all the winners, he honored his parents, his sister and his familia and Polish people who suffered from which the film was written not too many get to thank God and their familia and what happened to them in anytime..most refreshing, I have always been so proud to be continuously married nearly 41 years to my prince of a husband who is proud as can be to be polish jewish, we cry in our hearts for the many jewish people being persecuted and killed in Europe, maybe they need to take Benjamin Netyanhu's offer and immigrate to Israel where they will be welcomed with open arms and hearts and not be persecuted at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
