The second largest church in Europe- Saint Paul Cathedral in London

14th June 2015

Saint Paul Cathedral is very impressive and the dome is visible in London. It is the second largest cathedral in Europe. The first one is Roman Catholics Saint Peter's Cathedral in Rome.
Last year I was inside the cathedral but unfortunately this year it was closed. But decorations inside are so simple but it makes the church very beautiful. The cathedral was designed by Sir Christopher Wren who is buried in the church. His work is a  real masterpiece.

St. Paul's Cathedral is an Anglican church in Central LondonEngland. It was started in 604. The man who built it was called Mellitas, Bishop of the East Saxons. In 962 and 1087 the cathedral burnt down and was built again. Before today's version of the cathedral there were four others but they also burnt down. Today's cathedral is made of limestone and it was built after the Great Fire Of London in 1666. Its architect was Sir Christopher Wren, who designed a further 50 churches, Almost all in the City of London. It has 3 floors: The Whispering Hall and 2 outside(you can see it on the picture). Actually, the cathedral nave has 1 floor level, but Wren built a screen wall to hide the gothic-like supports that were needed to hold up the wall, to create the illusion of a 2 floored, classical cathedral. St Paul's is a popular tourist attraction and is still used as a church today.

Setting about the Cathedral - garden is so beautiful....
