  3. A terrible episode of war. The people of Warsaw were very brave.
I have read the whole historical account and the trial of SS Gruppenfuhrer
Jurgen Stroop. Thank God he was tried and hung. He worse still showed
    no remorse.
Anyone Gosia who hasn't heard of this episode - words fail me.
    Sincerely

  6. I have read a lot about the Warsaw Uprising and the Polish underground. They were an amazing organization. It is so sad how the Russians waited till the Germans defeated the uprising before coming to "help."

    1. Thanks Bethany. You finished off the historical part. The then Soviets didn't come to help - they came to take over until a certain fellow in a shipyard,
a Polish Pope and an at last benign Soviet Leader pulled down walls
and let people free. The Iron Curtain came tumbling down eventually.
