31st July 2014

Torun is a big city and if you want sightseeing it takes you few days. The city is full of unique landmarks which you can meet in every corner. There are a lot of Roman Catholic churches which are very old. In the city centre there is St. Mary Church which was built in 13 century but later was rebuilt.

Torun - in the hot day more photos

30 th July 2014

Toruń has the largest number of preserved Gothic houses in Poland, many with Gothic wall paintings or wood-beam ceilings from the 16th to the 18th centuries

House Under the Star
Toruń, unlike many other historic cities in Poland, escaped substantial destruction in World War II. Particularly left intact was the Old Town, all of whose important architectural monuments are originals, not reconstructions.
Major renovation projects have been undertaken in recent years to improve the condition and external presentation of the Old Town. Besides the renovation of various buildings, projects such as the reconstruction of the pavement of the streets and squares (reversing them to their historical appearance), and the introduction of new plants, trees and objects of 'small architecture', are underway.

Torun city of my youth

29 th July 2014

I love Torun very much because I studied here. I graduated from Nicolaus Copernicus University so I have a lot of nice memories when I was a student.
I love walking here especially at Szeroka Street which is the most popular street in the city.
The old town in Torun is my favourite place.

Gdynia - the new city

25th July 2014

Gdynia is a relatively young city born out of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919.

Swietojanska street - the most popular street in Gdynia

Construction began on May 21, 1921 and within 5 years a new city and major port had been created. While it lacks the 1,000 year history of its better known neighbour Gdansk, Gdynia is a wonderful example of a 20th century city with its construction covering the Art Deco period of the 20s and 30s, the Socialist era of post-war Europe and the modern designs of the post-communist Poland. The city can offer beautiful beaches and walks, some of the best restaurants and nightlife in the Tri-city as well as a small but decent selection of hotels and contains a fiercely proud population still shaped by the time not so long ago when Gdynia was viewed as the true Polish city on the coast.

I promise much more great photos after weekend.

Greetings from sunny Gdynia.

Gdansk - a wonderful city.

24th July 2014

Gdańsk   is a Polish city on the Baltic coast, the capital of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland's principal seaport and the center of the country's fourth-largest metropolitan area.

The Moltava River

The city lies on the southern edge of Gdańsk Bay (of the Baltic Sea), in a conurbation with the city of Gdyniaspa town of Sopot, and suburban communities, which together form a metropolitan area called the Tricity  with a population near 1,400,000. Gdańsk itself has a population of 460,427 making it the largest city in the Pomerania region of Northern Poland.
Gdańsk is the historical capital of Gdańsk Pomerania and the largest city of Kashubia. The city was close to the former late medieval boundary between West Slavic and Germanic seized lands and it has a complex political history with periods of Polish rule, periods of German rule, and extensive self-rule, with two spells as a free city. Between the Word Wars, the Free City of Danzig was in a customs union with Poland and was located between German East Prussia and the "Polish corridor" to the sea where the harbour of Gdynia grew up. Gdańsk has been part of modern Poland since 1945.
Gdańsk is situated at the mouth of the Motława River, connected to the Leniwka, a branch in the delta of the nearby Vistula River, whose waterway system supplies 60% of the area of Poland and connects Gdańsk to the national capital in Warsaw. This gives the city a unique advantage as the center of Poland's sea trade. Together with the nearby port of Gdynia, Gdańsk is also an important industrial centre. Historically an important seaport and shipbuilding centre, Gdańsk was a member of the Hanseatic League.
The city was the birthplace of the Solidarity movement which under the leadership of Lech Wałęsa, played a major role in bringing an end to Communist rule across Central Europe.
