Christmas is a time of joy but we should remember in the past it was completely different. Walking my dog yesterday I visited the town cemetery which is very big. Of course taking the dog to the cemetery is forbidden so I left him next the fence.
The local cemetery is over 100 years old so there are a lot of graves here. In the centre is located a monument of people who were murdered by Nazis here. All of them were very young. It was a terrible time.
Great tribute the victims. All of them were Poles. In the town was the community of Jews. But after WWII and communist time they left Poland. In the graveyard a lot of Jews rest here.
What a terrible time in human history that people can do such things to other human beings. This is an interesting visit to the graveyard. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteWe should never forget!
ReplyDeleteYes it is the most important for the next generatiomns
DeleteWe should never forget history. I hope this terrible history will never be repeated.

Deletei wonder how they keep a wooden chapel from burning? very very cool. ( :
ReplyDeleteI don't know, too. But luckyli it has survived
DeleteYes, yes, such a horrible time. And these things keep being repeated all over the world! So terrible.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately people are so stupid as in the past
DeleteGosia, thank you for the reminder of some bad times in Poland. It's so hard to imagine the hatred that prompted the murders of Jews there and in other countries. So sad. A lovely monument and chapel.
ReplyDeleteI love a chapel. too
DeleteAt least since the war the victims are treated with respect. Is is interesting that dogs are not allowed. I think they are here. Are authorities worried that they will dig up bones?
ReplyDeleteIn Poland you can't take dogs there I think it is respect for people who are buried in graveyard
