Modern church

23rd March 2016

Last weekend I took part in a funeral service. The service took place in a modern church. The church is very young because it was built 20 years ago. Building churches now is not very common here because less and less people go to church. Of course it is typical for modern European society.
The architecture of the church is completely different from churches which were built at the beginning of the 20th century.

In my opinion this church looks charming and white churches are not typical here,.

  1. I totally agree with you Gosia. The new architecture in churches is horrible. The 20 year old new Catholic church in St.Ives in Sydney and it is now a Cathedral, as it has a Bishop located there, is built in a round shape. Kids rooms
for games!!! Video screens all over the place. Reminds me of a three ringed circus.
There is an new Anglican one on the Gold Coast, Qld which is exactly the same - I attended there once with my brother and SIL and the church and was full of animals - even had a Shetland pony for pony rides. I believe it was the feast of St.Francis of Assisi - I reckon Francis would have been even shocked with this ZOO !!!
Your White painted church looks normal - the two Australian ones I have tried to describe, are not Church-like.
    Cheers

  4. It is good that this modern church still looks like a church with a cross. Over here, we are having churches in factories or shop lots without crosses.
