Minus 13 C degrees in the morning....

2nd January 2015

Today is the first Saturday on the New Year. And we have experienced very frosty weather. At 7a.m. was - 13C degrees it means the coldest day this winter. Walking my dog in the afternoon about 1p.m. it was - 9 C but windy so I have felt it is definitely colder. But the positive side is the day is sunny and the sky is blue. I was walking  about an hour and came across some chickens which were walking outside and seemed to be satisfied with the weather.
Hello from my kitchen in the morning drinking coffee..

Sunny afternoon..

Winter fence...

Have a nice Sunday...

  2. Minus 13 Celsius is bloody cold and even to be walking your dog at -9 Celsius would be out of the question for me.
I would open the dog for the dog to do its business and re-open when the dog wanted to come back in.
I think "chooks" as long as they can forage and scratch as long as it is not raining or I suppose snowing, don't seem to care. Most livestock just get on with doing what they have to do and that is EAT - ha ha. I wish I had their immune system when it comes to the cold.
Still MOST unsummery here in Brisbane - overcast and cool here and it is JANUARY??? I think the weather clock has got confused, but I'm not complaining - at least the days are about the 30 Celsius department and not sauna like.

    2. Colin it is not easy with my dog because I live in the block ofd flats on the third floor so I have to walk my dog in the countryside or in the dog's park which is also near my house

  3. Hi Gosia, it must be terribly cold even in the sunny afternoon. The coldest I have experienced in our highlands is about 22 Celsius. Blessed Sunday!

  6. I don't think I can survive that, I was born and raised and living in the tropics. WE rejoice every time there's a bit of cold air here. I love chickens. Aren't they cold?
