Mariacka Street seems to be vehicular free with outside dining places. Katowice as it now is certainly goes back some time longer than 150 years. Katowice certainly came to prominence during WW 2 battles etc. I looked the city up and thank God after Joe "Blood Thirsty" Stalin died in 1952 the Polish Communist Workers Party had the name changed to Staliniri, thankfully that didn't go over well with the locals and why should it.
"Staliniri" had a very short life - thank God. Katowice won that name battle. Cheers Colin ( Brisbane. Australia)
For those of us in the States, it's really hard to imagine a city over 700 years old. We have some now approaching 200 years, but in Texas where I am in the west, things are very young.
Very nice view up the street to the steeple!
ReplyDeleteBethany it is Saint Mary's Church one of the most beautiful in Katowice

Margaret it is a grand church with very rich history. One day I am going to take a lot of photos of it.
