18th October 2015
On 17th October 1849 Frederic Chopin was one of the greatest composer in the world died. His heart rested in Warsaw.
When Chopin died in 1849 his body was buried in Paris but his heart was taken to Warsaw, as requested by the composer on his deathbed. The heart was sealed in what is believed to have been a jar of cognac and smuggled into the Polish city before being interred in a pillar at the Holy Cross Church.
Nowadays in Warsaw there is 18th International Competition of Chopin. It is the oldest contest in the world and the most talented pianists from the world take part in it
I like the last picture. Very grand looking!

Chopin is very popular around the world
DeleteWe visited the park in Warsaw and saw all the incredibly beautiful roses. It's very interesting story of Chopin and his heart.
ReplyDeleteYes the story is really interesting and it shows how he loves his homeland and missed it
DeleteMy ancestors were Polish peasant farmers. I wonder if they ever traveled to a larger city to hear his music. Those who came to the U.S. certainly loved it but did they ever hear it before they arrived here???
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to answer for it but at that time he was not very popular
